Where’s the P:

Popular joke recorded back to at least 1970 by Bronner, probably older than that.

Person 1: A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O Q R S T U V W X Y Z
Person 2: Where’s the P?
Person 1: Running down your leg!

Opie recorded it in the late 70s in the UK. Sometimes this was told as a joke (” a kid’s teacher asked him to say the alphabet when he really had to pee….”), other times it’s set up as a trick, as above.

  1. Steve

The victim was told, "For every question I ask you, just answer, 'Pea green soup.'"

"What did you have for breakfast?"
    "Pea green soup."
"What did you have for lunch?"
    "Pea green soup."
"What did you have for dinner?"
    "Pea green soup."
"What did you do all night?"
    "Pea green soup."

Indiana — I heard this either from one of my kids or in my grade school career. I guess that makes it the '90s for the kids; the '50s for myself.

  2. goose

I heard this as a little Johnny joke in California in the 90s

  3. Martha

I remember hearing this from my classmates in third grade (97) in Harlem.
